The annual Elite Eight Fall Preview Showcase at Monterey Trail High School once again delivered an exciting day of Northern California basketball. The event featured some of the Sac-Joaquin Section’s premier programs—and every matchup gave fans an early glimpse at the talent and intensity we can expect this upcoming season.

First Round Results

  • Monterey Trail 52 – Edison (Stockton) 49
  • Sacramento High 55 – Modesto Christian 68
  • Cal High 68 – Sheldon 88
  • Placer 60 – Vanden 75

Second Round Action

The competition stayed fierce as teams continued to battle in the afternoon session:

  • Edison (Stockton) 48 – Sacramento High 58
  • Modesto Christian 66 – Monterey Trail 52
  • Sheldon 69 – Vanden 54
  • Cal High 54 – Placer 52

Championship Game

Two powerhouse programs with deep history—Modesto Christian and Sheldon—faced off in the highly anticipated championship. Both squads showed elite depth and discipline, but Modesto Christian pulled away late, earning a 74–64 victory and cementing their status as one of NorCal’s top teams heading into the new season.

Final Thoughts

A huge shoutout to Coach Fields and the Monterey Trail staff for hosting another first-class fall showcase that brought together elite programs, standout players, and competitive early-season energy.
