Rocklin standout Mark Lavrenov locked in at Sac St
As most of you already know, Rocklin’s own Mark Lavrenov made the decision to stay home and commit to Sacramento State University on a full-ride scholarship. We just want to take a moment to remind everyone how special this commitment truly is.
It’s not every day you see a top-level talent choose to represent his local school, and Sac State is buzzing right now with the wave of talent coming in. Mark is going to be a great piece of that puzzle. At 6’7”, the guard/forward has the size and skill to impact the game in every way — handle the ball, shoot it from deep, lock up on defense, and clean the glass. He’s the type of player you want around, and the Hornets are getting exactly that.
The Hornets are also getting a new home with The WELL, a state-of-the-art arena set to open in 2025, giving players like Mark a modern stage to shine on. On top of that, the team is gaining national attention with matchups in events like the Empire Classic against Power 5 schools at Chase Center. And with the program gearing up to join the Big West Conference, the timing couldn’t be better for Mark to step in and make his mark.
This isn’t just about basketball either. Mark brings leadership, character, and drive — the qualities that make him a standout athlete, student, and person. Sac State landed a big-time player who’s going to make a big-time difference on and off the court.
The city, the section, and Coaches Corner are all behind him. Expect big things in the green and gold.
