Class of 2029 Players to watch
A couple of incoming freshmen stood out at the Rising Stars Showcase, while another —
Juleeyan Williams— was selected to play in the showcase but was unable to play. However,
Williams along with Jaden DeJesus and King Griffin are all must see freshman to keep an eye
this upcoming season in the Sac-Joaquin Section
Juleeyan Williams | 6’2 G | Monterey Trail | Compton Magic
Williams already looks the part of a high-level prospect. At 6’2, he mixes his offensive attack
well as he is able to score in a variety of ways. He can face up in triple threat and stop on a dime,
pulling up in transition. He can knock down the outside shot or play bully ball at the rim. On top
of his scoring, he’s also an underrated playmaker who creates easy looks for his teammates. With
a laundry list of offers already on the table, Williams is well on his way to being one of the
premier guards in California’s 2029 class.
Jaden DeJesus | 6’8 F | Christian Brothers
DeJesus is a promising F/C who embraces being a big. He protects the rim with presence,
rebounds at a high level and as an incoming freshman he doesn’t shy away from banging against
upperclassmen. Offensively, he’s very skilled, but he’s not trying to be a stretch big at the
moment—he’s focused on finishing strong around the basket and looking to dunk whenever
possible. Although it was a showcase, it was impressive to see him grab boards and initiate the
break himself. DeJesus will be teaming up with Joaquin Lucero-Mattis, Braeden Hennelly and
Andre Rabb-Patterson for Christian Brothers this coming season, who also played in the
showcase.
King Griffin | 5’10 PG | Sacramento High
Griffin turned heads with his ball handling and speed. He’s not just a good ball handler—he’s a
special one, able to get to any spot he wants on the floor. Around the rim, he’s ambidextrous,
finishing with either hand to the point it was hard to tell which was his dominant hand until he
shot free throws. Aside from his handle, he has an extra gear he can accelerate to when needed.
King had one of the many highlights of the showcase when breaking down a couple of defenders
and finishing with a tough circus shot with his off hand. Sacramento High looks to be in great
hands for the next four years, with Griffin poised to develop into one of the top young lead
